Lotus F1 Team has just released the following statement:

Following a very frustrating race last week our team decided to terminate Hugh Laurie's contract with immediate effect. The team felt his way of work was not of the best interest of both parties and the relation was no longer effective. A new Team Principal will be appointed in time for this week's Grand Prix at Zolder.

We are still negotiating with our sponsors an extention on the current agreement, which expired last week. As for our driver, he was unhappy with the car we provided him, and we were unhappy with his outburst. We agreed to continue our fruitful partnership for the next two rounds at least, then we will negotiate a new agreement.
