*frantic whispering behind the tire stacks as a mechanic drops a warm can of Brahma*
Oh, the drama! The paddock at the Masaryk Circuit is absolutely sizzling with the kind of gossip you cannot buy, darlings. While Jean-Marc Gounon was busy parading his Lister Storm around Brno for 18 lonely laps to take a rather dry victory, and Mark Martin was doing whatever it is Army-sponsored Lamborghinis do in second, our own garage was the real theater. The official sheets say Fernando Horta finished dead last with zero laps. Zero! But do not believe the boring timing monitors. The team insists this was not a driver error or a common mechanical failure; rumors are swirling that a rival team—possibly one running a very shiny Porsche—snuck into our garage with a box of counterfeit muamba spark plugs just minutes before the warm-up lap. We are currently analyzing the security footage, but the vibes are highly suspicious.
Fernando Horta (Driver): "Look, I know how it looks on paper. You see '0 laps, DNF' and you think, 'Ah, Horta went for a walk to buy some Czech pastries instead of racing.' But I swear to you, I didn't even have time to sweat! I settled into the Saleen S7-R, which by the way has the visibility of a letterbox, and was ready to hunt down El Loco. I was preparing my mind for 5393 meters of pure racing adrenaline. Then, the lights went out. I put my foot down, there was a loud clunk, and the gearbox instantly converted itself into a metal-shavings smoothie. I did not even cross the start-finish line! I just sat there in the cockpit, watching Lucas Luhr and the rest of the GT2 field zip past me like a very colorful, loud parade of people who actually have functioning clutches. It is a tragedy. I had the pace to at least get lapped by Gounon in a respectable manner, but instead, I was back in the hospitality motorhome eating snacks before the first lap was even over. The car was completely harmed by this cheap component."
ToeJam (CTR Owner/Garagist): "Yo, that is straight-up bogus, man! Big F didn't even get to shake his money maker on the track. We came all the way from Rapmaster Rocket to watch some groovy speed, and his ride just went pop! Whack, totally whack."
Earl (CTR Chief Mechanic): "I told him he should've stayed with the CamelToe crew. Our gears might smell like old cheese and swamp water, but they don't disintegrate when you look at 'em funny. We had to push that yellow brick all the way back to the tent ourselves."
Ps. Dave, where are you?! We need some real engineering help because these two alien dudes are trying to fix the Saleen with a giant jar of funk music and a wrench they found in a dumpster!
