Claus Damgaard claims victory at Daytona while Fernando Horta's race ends after eight laps of pure chaos.

*The Daytona International Speedway media center was thick with the scent of overpriced popcorn and old regret as the timing monitors flashed another untimely exit for our favorite Brazilian.*

Claus Damgaard put on a masterclass of endurance to take overall and GTC76 victory at Daytona International Speedway, completing 20 laps in 0:19:43.085 aboard his #84 DeTomaso Pantera. The Danish driver managed his tires and traffic expertly through the banking, holding off a fierce challenge from Dr. Armin Zumtobel in the #30 Porsche 906 by just over six seconds. Michael Menden rounded out the overall podium and took GTC65 honors in his #58 Chevrolet Corvette after a charging drive.

Meanwhile, the CamelToe Racing garage experienced a very different kind of afternoon. Fernando Horta, piloting the #50 Chevrolet Corvette 1976, showed early signs of life by clawing as high as eighth place by lap seven before the car simply decided it had seen enough sunshine.

ToeJam (CamelToe Racing Owner): Look, man, we told him the souvenir stand was open on lap eight, and the guy just couldn't resist a good discount on miniature alligators.

Earl (CamelToe Racing Crew): He didn't even spin it properly this time, boss. He just parked it next to a hot dog cart and asked for mustard.

Official classification records show Horta retiring on lap eight, cementing yet another short afternoon at the track while the front-runners battled all the way to the checkered flag.
