SEGA issued a press release this morning that reads as follows:
People lie. They tell you they checked the oil, they tell you the telemetry is clean, and they tell you that a five-lap sprint around Donington Park is too short for catastrophic mechanical disappointment. Alexei Vasilyev crossed the line first in his Freisinger Motorsport Porsche #77 to take victory in six minutes and nine seconds, followed closely by Tim Sugden and Emmanuel Collard. Meanwhile, our #02 Porsche GT3-RSR driven by Fernando Horta completed four laps before mercifully expiring into the Leicestershire scenery with the fastest lap of the entire pack at 1:10.386. People lie, but the timing screens do not, and neither does our absolute commitment to inventing plausible excuses for stopping early.
Hugh Laurie (Team Principal): We expected to be competitive out of the box, and we managed exactly four laps of blistering speed before deciding that saving fuel for next Thursday was the mathematically superior strategy. I don't care if people say they don't mind finishing four laps down. People lie.
