Barry Goldsworthy takes a sparkling victory at Melbourne while the paddock gossips about Horta's quiet run.

What an absolute circus we had at the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit! While everyone was busy watching the front-running chaos of the GT2 field, Barry Goldsworthy put on a masterclass of relentless energy behind the wheel of the #68 Porsche GT3-RSR, taking a stunning victory in the 11-lap sprint. Javier Diaz Villarroel pushed hard in his Repsol Porsche to secure second, and Peter Griffin somehow managed to haul his heavy Nissan 350Z onto the final step of the podium without dropping a single donut.

Far down the order, hidden behind a cloud of tire smoke and cartoons, our favourite wandering Brazilian Fernando Horta was spotted fighting a 360 Modena that sounded less like a Maranello masterpiece and more like a blender full of bolts. Rumour has it Horta spent the entire race trying to negotiate a shortcut through the Melbourne aquarium with cameo appearance maker Scooby-Doo, who was frantically operating the pit board from the passenger seat.

Scooby-Doo (Chief Strategist): "Ruh-roh! Raggy, we are losing three seconds a lap through turn four because you forgot to feed the engine a Scooby Snack!"

Shaggy Rogers (Driver Coach): "Like, man, just look at those Porsche guys go! Can we stop for some giant artisanal sandwiches now?"

Fernando Horta (#12 Driver): "Fellas, please, I am begging you, stop talking about snacks, my brakes are glowing brighter than Shaggy's eyes after a late-night fridge raid."

Post-race festivities brought out the usual paddock whispers, with journalists swarming the media pen to dissect the grid's gossip.

Lois Griffin (The Daily Quahog): "Barry, darling, winning is fine and all, but did you really have to use my husband Peter as a chicane on lap four? He still smells like burnt clutch and cheap gin."

Homer Simpson (Springfield Nuclear Dispatch): "Mmm... championship points... wait, is there free donuts in the press room or do I have to actually interview these weirdos in sports cars?"

Peter Griffin (Family Guy Racing): "Shut up, Meg! The Nissan is practically a family sedan, I'm just happy I didn't roll it into the kangaroo enclosure!"

Down in the pits, the radio chatter told a tale of pure, unadulterated confusion as the checkered flag fell.

#68 Pitwall: "Barry, you've won! Keep pushing!"
Barry Goldsworthy: "I can't stop, the drum beats won't let me!"
#12 Pitwall: "Fernando, box this lap."
Fernando Horta: "Box? I am already parked in the gravel, eating a meat pie with Dave!"

Ps. Mansell was spotted trying to tow a stranded Porsche with a heavily modified lawnmower, claiming it was legal under 1992 regulations.
