Race report: Daytona Disqualification Madness: Williams Clears the Table
1. That is the exact number of laps Goofy managed before his Maserati bowed out of proceedings, leaving the rest of the Daytona field to sort out a roaring 9-lap thriller at Florida's high-speed cathedral.
Williams Grand Prix issued a press release this morning that reads as follows:
Williams Grand Prix PR Department: F-DUUUUUUUUUUDE! WHAT A GLORIOUS DAY FOR THE GROVE BRIGADE! Davinci took the absolute chequered flag with a masterclass in staying out of the wall, followed closely by our very own Moustache in second to lock out the top step in the most chaotic fashion imaginable! Never mind the small matter of Fernando's disqualification after six laps of pure, unadulterated wheel-spinning violence—we have conquered America, we have drunk the sweet juice of victory, and we are charging toward the championship trophy like a runaway freight train with no brakes! Caspita! Wait, wrong team.
Team Principal Skinner, speaking from somewhere near the back of the Williams garage while holding a half-eaten sandwich backwards, admitted he had entirely lost track of proceedings.
Team Principal Skinner (Scuderia Libra / Guest Observer): Wait, what? We won? Or did Williams win? I have no idea who is driving what anymore, why are there red cars everywhere, is this a casino? Caspita! Where are the strippers? Bravissimo!
Ps. We meant to say Fernando finished fifth instead of fourth in the classification data, but honestly, numbers are just a social construct anyway.
