Race report: Monza Fury: Horta Storms to P2 in Four-Lap V10 Viper Sprint
Fernando Horta finished second in a four-lap V10 street-brawler showdown at Monza.
SÃO PAULO FUTEBOL CLUBE RACING IS ON FIRE AND UNSTOPPABLE! We brought our glorious 8.0-litre Chrysler Viper GTS-R #33 straight into the Temple of Speed, humiliated the local Italian royalty on their own hallowed asphalt, and secured an absolute masterclass P2 podium finish just 1.428 seconds behind Mike Hezemans! Four lap limit? Who cares! We turned the legendary Curva Grande into a sovereign enclave of pure Brazilian horsepower, held off an incoming horde of roaring American iron, and proved to the whole paddock that our red-white-and-black beast is the absolute terror of Lombardy!
Fernando Horta: LISTEN TO ME, THIS CAR IS AN UNTAMED DRAGON! You step on the throttle coming out of the pit lane and the entire chassis threatens to twist itself into a pretzel before you even hit fifth gear! Four laps! Four glorious, deafening, kidney-shattering laps through the park, and I spent every single second fighting for my life against seven other Chrysler Vipers! On the run down to the Variante del Rettifilo for the first time, Mike Hezemans in the #05 Force One Festina machine was right ahead of me, blowing sparks into my windshield, and I knew right then we were in for absolute warfare. I threw our #33 car into Lesmo 1 so hard I thought the side exhausts were going to shave the grass off the bank! By lap three, Patrick Simon was absolutely losing his mind in the #06 RSM car right in my rear-view mirror, diving under my rear wing like a guided missile into the Prima Variante, but I shut the door on him so fast he had to check his own pulse! Then you look at Pedro Lamy down in P4—the guy dropped a :1:45.949 fastest lap out of nowhere, which is completely insane and honestly quite rude, but who cares about a single rapid lap when we crossed the line holding off the entire pack for seven straight minutes?! I punched out a 1:46.988 on my cleanest lap, kept Hezemans in my crosshairs all the way through Parabolica, and didn't even lock up once at the Variante Ascari! My ears are ringing, my helmet smells like hot gear oil, and I am ready to do it all over again right now!
Faustão (Chief Pit Strategist): OLHA ESSA FERA AÍ BICHÃO! O HORTA CHEGOU EM SEGUNDO LUGAR NA RAÇA, TANTO NO PESSOAL QUANTO NO PROFISSIONAL, AO VIVO NO AUTÓDROMO DE MONZA ÀS SETE E VINTE E UM DA NOITE! QUEM SABE FAZ AO VIVO, ERROU NO CÁLCULO MAS CHEGOU COLADO NO HEZEMANS! BRINCADEIRA!
Supla (Telemetry Engineer): C'mon kid! That P2 finish was totally champ, PAPITO! The V10 monster was buzzing like pure 1980s punk rock all the way down the main straight, absolute rock and roll in Italy, c'mon!
Ps. Wilco, where are you man?! You missed the whole V10 party!
