Williams Grand Prix had an eventful race on Albert Park yesterday. From gearbox gremlins to mysterious problems, the team survived to score a win and two fastest laps on their borrowed B194 Porsche.

Shaka: I'm clearly unhappy. I won Sprint race, but could have won both of them easily. The car was shit, I aborted my qualifying lap and, thanks to mistakes by Race Director, was still on pole for Feature Race. The team instructed me to let everyone pass by Turn 1, something I did, but the car was feeling weird until someone radioed me, I didn't recognise the voice, telling me to park the car and then hit a certain button on the dashboard. From then on the car really felt better, I was able to lap consistently faster than the rest of the field and had a comfortable lead until the team asked me to serve a precautionary stop/go after my drive through. That blew my 30+ sec lead, leaving me second and catching up tib, who I managed to get past. Then he tried a move, we collided, I was going to tap him as "go ahead" and caused a major crash. To avoid the wrath of Stewards I cruised home punching the wheel as I felt I could have won or overtaken him.

On Sprint race I was once again instructed to let the others by, then managed to pass each and every of them in a few laps. The car was quick but gearbox proved unreliable, causing me to spin a few times with jumping gears.

Patrick: Albert Park officials are ridicularly poorly instructed! First race start was aborted a thousand times, our driver was wrongly put on pole, then wrongly being investigated so we opted to serve a stop-go penalty to avoid more problems and that costed us another perfect run for 30 points. First race also was supposed to last 11 laps, being cut short to 7 without any explanation from officials.

Williams Grand Prix now heads to the next Pipe so they can be at the Trial hoping their FW14B is cleared from the charges.
